Incubator Kitchen

Phat Beets Produce is launching a pilot kitchen incubator program Spring 2013.  With the help of the Alameda County Health Dept., we are launching a pilot program to help Oakland Flatland residents and farmers with limited economic means access the tools to start and promote their own healthy food related businesses.

The goals of the  Community Healthy Food Businesses Incubation Kitchen are to :

  1. Test and implement the Cottage Food Law for local micro-enterprise home kitchen businesses

  2. Develop a curriculum to help low-resourced residents of the Oakland Flatlands start micro-food enterprise businesses

  3. Provide a 1 year period of subsidized commercial kitchen space, liability insurance, kitchen equipment, food safety training, and financial literacy for a group of Oakland Residents

  4. Develop a cooperative brand of packaged and value added farm based food

  5. Develop a marketing cooperative

  6. Create an equitable food hub connecting small farmers of color at Pinole incubator farm to small food entrepreneurs of color in Oakland
